Why donate to The Land People?
The Land People are the only people who have the expertise, ability, and experience to untangle the distressed 40% of Israel's land.
Due to a shortage of land and as the population grows and communities develop - the opportunities that are currently available are only getting smaller and more expensive the price of lots in Judea & Samaria settlements has risen dramatically over the last few years. The average cost of a 500 sqm plot now stands at about NIS 1 million. Having said that this is still significantly cheaper than similar plots in the center, and therefore these lands are so impotent.
Why are they inaccessible? Because the paperwork involves 5 different paperwork involved: Ottoman empire, British empire 1 & 2, Jordanian rule and Israeli authorities, Because of the Palestinian authorities complex rules on selling land to Jewish buyers, and finally because of the complex process of making the actual purchase.
There are additional risks and challenges involved:
- Identity - Many Arabs will not sell their land directly to Jews, mainly out of fear for their lives.
We shall perform the purchases using non-Jewish identities. - Forgery - Many forgeries can be found in the ownership deeds.
- The company employs an experienced Arabist field coordinator whose job is to create and maintain ties with local Arabs to identify the true owners of the land. He is also in charge of insuring the accuracy of information and documentation.
- Hoaxes - Purchase deals often involve cash payments by middlemen, thus putting buyers at the risk of being swindled. We shall avoid as much as possible transactions made through middlemen.
- Legal - Legal impediments by parties claiming ownership of the land post factum shall be dealt with by attorneys having a great deal of experience in this area.
- Political-Rezoning land in Judea & Samaria can be "frozen" due to political considerations. Any delay in zoning could affect the IRR. However, there is always the possibility of selling land after registration of Jewish ownership.
That is why we need your support, so that LP can change this:
